Let's put an end to it.
Background
Lately, the number of reported cases of room and property destruction in guesthouses and hotels has been on the rise.
We have encountered a range of incidents: black coffee in kettles, guests engaging in cooking activities inside the rooms, instances of faucet and towel theft, smoking inside hotel rooms, as well as incidents where alcohol and food were poured into the pool, among others.
Regrettably, we have observed an increase in the occurrence of more severe acts, such as the deliberate destruction of mirrors, televisions, and drywalls.
So, what can we do?
This service is established with the aim of assisting B&B owners and hotels in protecting themselves from:
- Property vandals
- Disruptive guests
- Non-paying guests
We achieve this by maintaining an informational database, known as “VandaList”, which serves to notify property owners about identified vandals. In the future, we plan to create a user area where owners can add records on their own after proper verification and validation.
How we do it
The objective of this service is not to create a publicly available blocklist of vandals.
It is intended to allow registered business owners to actively assess whether their prospective guests could pose a risk to their property.
The service specifically focuses on guests who have exhibited inappropriate behavior, including:
- Making threats
- Showing disrespect towards staff
- Engaging in fraudulent behavior
- Stealing from the rooms
- Intentionally causing damage
- And more...
Adding individuals to the service‘s database is done only after comprehensive clarification with the business owner and appropriate evidence, according to the description of the incidents. If there is no conclusive evidence, guests will be added to the database only if another independent business submits a verified complaint with their details.
This service exists thanks to the support and contributions of the community. If you would like to contribute by suggesting an addition to the database or have any other inquiries or requests, please contact us.
Disclaimer
This service is for informational purposes only and does not prohibit people from staying in guesthouses or hotels. Its main function is to provide information about the questionable past and misdeeds (if any) of certain guests.
